Benareal: A Strange Night
A downloadable game for Windows
BENAREAL: A STRANGE NIGHT
Freeze the room. Take the pills. Keep an eye on him.
An endless gallery after closing time. Walkways that aren’t there until you take something. A man in a hat who moves when you stop looking.
And you with a device that can hold the world still.
Nine seconds. Make them count.
First-person horror puzzles • Solo or 2-player co-op • 112 rooms
THE ROOM IS A PICTURE. YOU CAN STILL MOVE.
Raise your frame unit and freeze the world exactly as you see it. The room becomes a still image painted across the walls but you’re free to move through it.
Catch a bridge before it slides away. Hold a laser gate open. Keep a strobe-lit path visible. Blind the watchers long enough to slip past.
You have nine seconds before everything starts moving again.
Choose your angle. Capture your opening. Go.
BRING A FRIEND. THEY MAKE A GREAT STATUE.
Every room has a dedicated co-op version built for two.
Freeze your partner to hold down plates that only respond to frozen weight, or turn them into a distraction while you sneak past a watcher.
Sometimes, helping means standing perfectly still while your friend does something questionable.
Play together in split-screen on one PC, or connect online.
Going alone? Leave a decoy to draw attention while you make your move.
THE WAY FORWARD MIGHT NOT EXIST. YET.
Some paths only appear after you take Benareal.
One pill takes you UNDER. Two take you DEEP. Three take you SWIMMING.
Each dose reveals another layer of walkways as the gallery bends into colour around you. What looked like a dead end might be the way through.
But every bottle has a limited supply.
Count your pills. Watch your surroundings.
HE COMES WITH THE PILLS.
At first, the Hat Man watches from a distance.
Take more, and he follows when your back is turned.
Go deeper, and he hunts.
Hold his gaze long enough and he disappears. Look away, and he could be right behind you.
The pills reveal a way forward.
They also bring him closer.
INSIDE THE GALLERY
- 112 rooms to solve. Six puzzle types built around laser gates, sliding bridges, watchers, plates and gates, strobe mazes, and Benareal walkways.
- Nine seconds of stillness. A perspective-based freeze mechanic that turns your view into a picture you can move through.
- Solo or 2-player co-op. Dedicated co-op versions of every room, with local split-screen and online play.
- Three levels of the trip. Hidden paths, rising insanity, and an increasingly persistent Hat Man.
- A final test. A closing stretch of 25 hard rooms with no spare frames.
- Room-by-room checkpoints. Plus a Chapters menu, rebindable keys, gamepad support, and settings to adjust your experience.
Step inside. Find your angle. Make the next nine seconds count.
